The Legendary Red Thermal Water of Karahayıt

Rising from deep underground at 58°C, our red thermal water owes its distinctive colour to a high iron-oxide content. The moment it meets the air, the iron minerals oxidise and lend the water its unique, warm crimson tone. This natural spring in Karahayıt has been revered for thousands of years as a sacred water where the people of Anatolia have sought healing.

At Çelik Thermal Spa we channel this precious water straight from its source into our pools, without a single additive. Rich in calcium, magnesium, sulphur and bicarbonate, and gently alkaline (pH ~7.8–8.2), it wraps around your body and offers deep, restful relaxation.

Mineral Composition

The Healing Within the Water

The rich mineral content of our red thermal water forms the very foundation of balneotherapy. Here are the key components that make this natural gift so unique.

Iron Oxide

The mineral that gives the water its legendary red colour. It supports blood circulation and revitalises the skin.

Calcium

An essential mineral for bone and joint health that also helps the muscles and nervous system function in balance.

Magnesium

Encourages the muscles to relax, eases tension and brings a deep sense of calm.

Sulphur

A valued component traditionally favoured for skin conditions and joint complaints.

Bicarbonate

Gives the water its gently alkaline nature; it softens the skin and nourishes the tissues to aid renewal.

Gently Alkaline pH

A balanced pH of 7.8–8.2 protects the skin barrier and delivers a comfortable bathing experience.

Balneotherapy

How Does Thermal Water Help?

Balneotherapy is a traditional natural treatment using mineral-rich thermal waters. Its effect arises from the harmony of three fundamental mechanisms.

01

The Heat Effect

The warmth of the water widens the blood vessels, quickens circulation and relaxes the muscles to ease pain.

02

Mineral Absorption

Minerals in contact with the skin are absorbed by the tissues, supporting cellular balance and aiding recovery.

03

Buoyancy

The buoyancy of the water lightens the load on the joints, makes movement easier and brings the body to complete stillness.
